Clip-in hair extensions are very easy to apply yourself, and it only takes a few minutes to pop them in. They are ideal for when you want that fuller head of glossy, shiny hair for a special occasion – albeit a wedding or even a night out.
Clip-in hair extensions can be washed and styled with straighteners, curling wands or rollers in the same way as your natural hair. However, you should note that they must not be worn permanently. The reason for this is that clip-in hair extensions have three to five small clips that run along the weft, as the name suggests. As a result, this means that clip-ins must be taken out at night because otherwise, the clips can rub against your scalp, making it sore and causing your natural hair to thin in that area.
Black Tape In Hair Extensions
If you want a more permanent solution for hair extensions, Louise can fit you with tape-in extensions that are reusable. These are very kind to the natural hair but need to be moved up the head every eight weeks. Tapes can be fitted in around 30 minutes and can last for up to eight months before you need to replace the hair.
Those with thinner hair may need the tapes moved up every six weeks or so. Replacing the tapes is fairly straightforward. They are removed from the hair, then cleaned and re-taped. Your own hair is washed and trimmed in this process, and then the tapes will be reapplied.
If you have heard stories about the glue from tapes sticking and causing damage to the natural hair, don’t worry. As with most things, there are good quality and bad quality tapes. Louise only ever uses top brands, and she can remove the tapes in ten minutes or less, leaving no mess or sticky residue.
